Semester Tests
Lee Academy will be implementing semester tests for the Spring 2011 semester. The purpose of administering these tests is to help students learn to take comprehensive tests.  We feel that taking these tests will help students be better prepared for college.  In addition, semester tests will evaluate what the student has actually learned during the school year.  Semester tests are also great incentives to encourage better attendance and behavior.    Guidelines regarding semester tests are listed below.
1.    No students will be allowed to take their tests early.  All tests should be administered on the day and time scheduled.  If a student is not able to take the test at the assigned time, he/she must take it during the make-up time or after school.
2.    All students are required to take a minimum of 2 tests in their core courses.  Senior high students will take Math and Social Studies.  Jr. high students will take English and Science.  This schedule will rotate in future semesters.
3.    Students may be exempt from final tests if they meet the grade, absentee, and code of conduct requirements. a.     A student may be exempt from tests in non-required subjects if they have an A average and no more than 5 absences in that class and no major discipline issues (any type of suspension).b.    A student may be exempt from tests in non-required subjects if they have a B average and no more than 3 absences in that class and no major discipline issues (any type of suspension).
4.    Students with an unexcused absence will be required to take the final in the class/classes in which they received the unexcused absence.
5.    Students will be required to take their finals if their grade is C or lower and/or if they have missed more than 5 days of school.
6.    Students who have been in any type of suspension must take all of their finals.
7.    The testing period will be 90 minutes in length.
8.    Students must remain in the testing site for the entire testing period.  No student will be allowed to leave early. If a student finishes the test before the testing period is over, he/she may study for another test, read a book, or sit quietly.  They must not leave the room for any reason other than an emergency.
9.    Semester tests will be administered in the mornings.  Make-up tests will be administered in the afternoons.

.
Students who are exempt from a test may take a test in order to improve their grades.  If they are exempt and choose to take the test, the test score will not count against them if the score does not improve their grade.
